From "Design Thinking" to "Circular Economy"

Updated: Jan 18, 2023

The Design Thinking methodology is not new among industrial designers, and has grown to influence almost all types of activities in various types of businesses. It no longer focuses only on designing a product more intelligently, but it is used for generating solutions and is directly oriented to the user, to add value not only to products, as I have mentioned, but also to services.

I particularly like it because, having worked with groups in companies, facilitating and/or coordinating environmental compliance mainly, I believe that the environmental area of companies should "play" more with this type of methodologies and elevate them so that the results, instead of being focused only on the user experience, are also focused on environmental protection, through the 7 "Rs" of the circular economy and thinking in the long term.

A large percentage of the impact of a product can be determined from its design, from the choice of natural, technical and energy resources to be used. In Mexico we have very capable professionals in our teams who have demonstrated surprising levels of problem solving and innovation, and much more can be achieved.

We need to raise awareness, get organized and give freedom for creativity.
